We’re pleased to tell you every Des Moines Public Schools elementary student will now have access to breakfast at no cost to the students or their families. This expansion means almost every school in the district offers at least one no-cost meal option during the day. Studebaker Elementary School students built a miniature amusement, complete with roller coasters and the ominous sounding “Wheel of Death” (OK, it’s a Ferris wheel, but a big one!) Fifth graders in Paula Banowetz’s class recently read the story “Pay it Forward,” about a boy named Trevor who plants a tree of kindness that branches out far and wide. For a project related to the book, one group of students decided to take action in the spirit of the assigned theme: Spread the Kindness.
